About
LONGTON & DISTRICT MOTOR CLUB?
The Club which is based in Preston Lancashire has a long and successful history dating back to 1962 and in the early days Autotests, Road Rallies and Production Car Trials were the main competitive activities.
In the heady days of the 70’s and 80’s, Autocross, Sprints and Rallycross were added. Venues such as Longridge, Oulton Park, Aintree and Croft saw their first Rallycross events organised by the Club. These venues plus Blackpool Promenade and Creg-ny-baa on the Isle of Man were used also for Sprints & Hillclimb events.
The Club is rightly proud of its organising ability and is one of the UK’s leading organisers of Speed Events – its Championships have also been well supported throughout the Club’s history.
Sprints are at the centre of the Club’s current competition activity with three events at the Three Sisters Racing circuit, near Wigan and two events at the new Anglesey Racing Circuit on the Isle of Anglesey, North Wales.
Longton’s Northern Speed Championship visits all the leading Sprint & Hillclimb venues in the North of England and has a strong following.
